A FEW IMPORTANT GUIDELINES I’VE LEARNED
Be consistent with training
Follow USAC guidelines on weekly training hours based on the athlete’s sport age
Increase training load gradually regardless of results
Implement cross-training
Understand the importance of recovery to prevent overreaching
Focus on the process of training rather than the result of races
Reinforce that the training process looks different for each athlete
Measure progress over months and years instead of day by day
